About Handeed
Handeed is a marketplace for authentic handmade goods, sourced directly from artisans and small workshops across Jordan. Every product is made by hand, brought onto the platform through a workshop visit, and quality-checked by our team before it reaches you.

Our story
In 2019, our co-founder Ehab Abu Dayeh visited a remote Jordanian town and met a woman who wove carpets by hand — generations of technique behind the work, and almost no path to a market beyond her village. The story repeated itself across the country. Workshops producing exceptional craft, with little infrastructure to connect that work to the people who would value it most.
At the same time, global demand was rising. Searches for traditional Jordanian products climbed year after year, and what supply existed was thin, fragmented, and rarely reached the makers themselves.
Handeed exists to close that gap. We were founded in 2019 and launched publicly in 2026. The years between were spent building relationships with artisans across Jordan, refining how we work with them, and making sure that what we offer is worth offering.
How we work
Every artisan on Handeed has been visited in person, evaluated, and onboarded deliberately. When a maker joins us, we travel to their workshop. We learn how they work, photograph their pieces ourselves, and help them think through how to present their craft to a global audience.
We handle the listings, the marketing, and — for now — the storytelling, so the artisan can focus on the work. In time, we train them to take that on themselves; sustainability matters more to us than dependence.
Every product is checked by hand before it ships. For one-of-a-kind commissions, we can film the making process, so the piece that arrives is verifiably the piece that was promised.
This model is slower than running a self-service platform. It is also the reason we can stand behind everything on the site.
What we stand for
Verified authenticity
Every product is sourced directly from the artisan who made it. No resellers, no imports, no shortcuts.
Fair trade
Our commission model is built to sustain workshops, not extract from them. Artisans are paid fairly for the work they produce.
Quality, checked by hand
We inspect every order before it ships. If a piece doesn’t meet the standard, it doesn’t go out.
Shipped worldwide
From workshops in Jordan to homes anywhere. Tracked, insured, delivered.
Heritage
The work on Handeed — tatreez, Bedouin weaving, olive wood, mosaic, pottery, Dead Sea products, copper and brass — represents centuries of accumulated technique. Much of it is at risk. Workshops are closing, younger generations are moving into other trades, and traditions that took generations to develop are being lost in a single one.
Handeed is, at its core, a preservation project with a commercial engine. Every order supports a working artisan and helps keep a craft alive.
